Here are some details about FYR Diagnostics’ COVID-19 testing laboratory:
-
-
- Our CLIA licensed laboratory has been offering RT-PCR COVID-19 testing services since the Fall of 2020. CLIA #27D2190551
- Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-6pm, Saturday by appt.
- We are very proud of our track record – consistent turnaround times of next business day after receipt and an average turnaround of 14-16 hours!
- Our COVID-19 testing kit includes: collection tubes, anterior nares swabs, biohazard bags, and a loaner label printer.
- Our collection tubes utilize molecular transport medium (MTM), which inactivates and preserves the sample for up to 7 days (no refrigeration needed), allowing for safe and effective testing.
- We offer an easy-to-use online portal for placing patient orders and viewing results.
- Our small team maintains a close relationship with our clients. We facilitate trainings and ongoing communication in order to keep improving our process.

Facts about the FYR SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR Test:
- FYR SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR Test has many improvements that increase performance and sensitivity compared to the CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Test.
- FYR SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR Test utilizes three viral gene targets. This will prevent any loss of performance from mutations present in variants.
- FYR SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR Test is performed in a multiplex format so that all viral gene targets and the human genetic material control occur in a single reaction instead of multiple reactions.
- For more details, please visit this fact sheet for providers and this fact sheet for patients.
Facts about RT-PCR testing from the CDC:
- The CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Test is authorized for use in the US in accredited CLIA certified labs (like us!).
- The CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Test can be used to test upper and lower respiratory specimens.
- A positive test result means that RNA from SARS-CoV-2 was detected and the patient is presumed to be infected and may be contagious.
- CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Test minimizes the likelihood of false positive results.
